sister, sister is a performance by Par Nair and Vridhi chaudhry. Together they started the Red Bindi Sisters Collective. The performance is about unfolding possibilities and impossibilities in transference and translations of colonial trauma stored in the body. Using ancestral practices of applying henna as protection and a return to ritual to ground ourselves, we perform with trauma and memory. With this work we record the transference of ancestral memory, a common thread in both our practices to ask, “ how does the body hold and reveal trauma?”
